Alice Bailey and Plato

"[M]any people… have experienced at sometime or another an illumination, an unfoldment, an uplifting, and a beatitude which has convinced them that there is a state of consciousness so far removed from that normally experienced as to bring them into a new state of being and a new level of awareness."
~Alice Bailey

This quote comes from an essay I've just spent a while reading. I highly recommend it, as it presents some ideas on the nature of the body, soul and anima mundi.

The question is: can we maintain the vision of grace? I believe that everyone who opens their heart to both knowledge and kindness will sometime sooner or later enter a state of grace of the spirit. Because of its subjective nature this cannot be proven, yet the experience is open to us all.

One has to be careful, though, not to fall into the trap of concluding that just because the experience is RARE and VERY DIFFERENT from one's ordinary awareness, that it must be FAR REMOVED and difficult to attain. Not so - all those who finally attain it say that it is only overlooked because it is too close, too intimate and too obvious.

Life's splendour forever lies in wait about each one of us in all its fullness, but veiled from view, deep down, invisible, far off. It is there, though, not hostile, not reluctant, not deaf. If you summon it by the right word, by its right name, it will come.
−Franz Kafka

I sure have high hopes that we can maintain this vision!

Maybe someday science will evolve enough to prove it. Already many otherwise unbelievable things have been shown with quantum physics.

That's right, Rudi! It's not difficult to attain at all. I searched for two years trying to find some secret truth, and finally in frustration gave up and went about daily life like a normal person. It was then that I began to see things in a new light. The truth is, I was looking too hard!

Everyone kept coming to my blog telling me that what I sought after was found within. I just blew them off. Looking back I now wish I had listened to them because I probably could have known about the nature of reality much sooner than later!

Beautiful quote. Thank you for sharing!

I seem to be reluctant to say anything about this. As the statement seem to be too intelllectual and wordy. And not direct to the point. I don't know how to say it in a few words either.
Or perhaps I disagree. Maybe many people who have higher or enlightened state of consciousness are not even aware or conscious of it.

Hi anonymous, it is a bit wordy and intellectual, as it came from a rather intellectual essay. I normally read things more to-the-point, but I easily became fascinated by this essay. If you have the time and patience, it's a captivating read.

I do think it's possible that some people might be enlightened and not even know it. For a while, I think that some children, for instance, are in a state of enlightenment, or at least close to it, but over time society places a veil over their eyes.
