Great Minds Think Alike

A few days ago at work, a coworker came to me and told me about something she had read in Yahoo! news. There is some missing crust by the Canary Islands, and in its place is green rock that comes from deep inside the planet. I said, "Who knows, maybe it could be Atlantis?" She laughed, not because it was funny, but because she had thought of the exact same thing.

Here is the article:

Two things:

"Great minds think alike" is a deeply moving phrase. It implies convergence to reality in a world where what is real often seems to be a matter of opinion.

also,

Atlantis is mythic for untold greatness of mind and accomplishment; mantle rock is literally a foundation of our world which, aside from its beauty, is home to our minds and accomplishments.

While Atlantis may not have been 2,000 miles s.w. of the Canary Islands, the metaphor the rock spoken of can become part of in association with Atlantis leaves me quietly happy.

Hi T.,

I was left quietly happy myself when my coworker, J., admitted that she had also thought of Atlantis.

What is real to me now would only have been a passing thought or a dream before.

I like the importance you've placed on mantle rock! Foundations are really important base structures to our homes. Without them, there'd be nothing to stand on.
