Ideas

Lately I just can't think of anything to write about. It's possibly just a phase. I'm sure it's something like writers' block?

So, do any of you have any ideas on things I could write about? I won't guarantee that I'll write about your idea, but then again, I might.

Please don't ask me to write about current events, especially political current events, because I don't keep up with them, unless it's odd science news.

It's late Thursday night or early Friday morning and I'm wide awake with a cold just beginning to settle in. So, I'll probably be in the house most of this weekend, being inactive and sitting on the computer. Wait a second... how is that different from any other time? :) I don't know!

Hello Sophia,

You could try describing something that you are seeing or hearing,

or you could...

feel your heart
beating in your chest and ask
what it is that makes it beat
like more than a lump of flesh.

Hi,
I was serious on a previous post about your trying to write some poetry.
I was asked by some folks who visit my blog to write something and I have been seriously considering it. I have started with an image that I took in the Utah desert awhile back and I am trying to match words to it. Something with metaphor, throw in a few similes, coupla described images, a comparison or two, maybe even a clever thought and: whammo a poem.
Of course its easier said than done and I am struggling. For now I am just trying to read a lot of different poems and see how its done.
Just a thought. . .

Hi Mossy,

Those are some good suggestions. Thanks! I should probably get back to my project of listening for one interesting sound a day, and journaling them. It doesn't have to be a unique sound, just something that strikes me as interesting at the moment.

I may write about the heart. I was thinking about your suggestion last night, and I too wondered what it is that makes it beat. Yes, some would say electrical impulses from the brain, but what makes the electrical impulses? Anyway, I won't say too much about it here, because I may write a full post about it on the blog.

Hope you're having a delightful Friday!

Hi Chris,

I seem to function better with the company of others. I do not like being alone so much. Actually, I should say I love being alone in real life, but I have to have companionship online, and hear others' ideas and opinions, and thoughts, too. It's because we're all in this together. We're one big brain.

Goatman,

I may just give poetry another try. I can always use the excuse that I'm poetically naive, so if my poetry is awful, I have a good reason. :)

I like your idea of using a photograph to inspire a poem. I'm not very good at metaphor, but who knows, maybe I'll come up with something. :)

I would suggest you ask yourself "What do I really want from my life?"

And then don't immediately turn that into a blog, but just reflect, and brood, and take possession of your own self, and . . .

Then tell us what you experienced, in a while, after absorbing the richness . . .

Looks, sounds, it is, like you are doing quite a fine job as it is Sophia.

There is great company online, I enjoy it.

Hi Vincent,

I've thought about this for a couple of days now. Any time my mind had a free moment, I'd ask myself, "What is it that I want?" I've come-up with several things:

1. I want happiness for myself and others.
2. I want enlightenment.
3. I want to spend the rest of my life learning.
4. I want friends to bond with.
5. I want to give as much love as I can, and also receive it.
6. I want security, both emotional and financial. (This does not mean I want to be rich!)
7. I want people to know I'm always there for them if they need me, and they can always get a hug from me, too.

In time there may be other things I'll think of. These are not in any special order.

Vincent, what do you want from your life?

Chris,

I completely agree with you! The company found here has no comparison.

Jim,

No one with access to the Internet should feel alone. I hope someday, that computers are cheap enough, and Internet access is cheap enough, that everyone who wants the online experience can have it.

I think every nursing home should have computers in their rooms. It would be nice to teach them how to use the Internet.

That is such a lovely idea Sophia. It would really open up an entirely new world to them!

"One big brain". I like that. Lately I have been viewing the Internet as a form of physical Mass Consciousness...

Marcus,

Speaking of the Internet as Mass Consciousness... close to the inception of this blog I wrote a post about how I viewed the Internet, and my idea was quite similar to yours! Great minds think alike?
