To My Free Bird

People told me that,
If the bird loves you,
It will return back to you
When you let it fly away.
What if that bird gets hurt
On its way back and can no longer fly?

Well, now.

That sounds like something one would have to take up with God . . .

All God has for me lately are lessons I learn the hard way.

I love this poem. What if the bird gets hurt while coming back....

On a slightly different note:

"We can also allow our soulmate to pass us by, without accepting him or her, or even noticing. Then, we'll need another incarnation to find that soulmate. And because of our selfishness we'll be condemned to the worse torture humankind ever invented for itself: Loneliness." Paulo Coelho, Brida

Soulsunclothed,

Nice to meet you, and thanks for your visit.

Loneliness is standing in the middle of a group of loved ones or friends and still feeling alone. It's a painful feeling. And I can think of nothing more lonely than passing up one's soulmate and having to live a lifetime or more without them.

I've read a few of your poems and writings and I believe they speak to me directly, as if they are things that I myself have experienced.

Don't forget the other bird. The one that can't fly away.

What's so special about the bird? Does it have golden feathers? Or is it a peacock? ;>)

Why not try some soft lessons? This week I feel a bit depressed, because I have a chest infection. It will get better and my depression will pass. Soft power is the best. Free birds always come back one day.

Siegfried,

If the bird can't fly away, wouldn't that make it a prisoner?

Perhaps this bird taught me how to fly.

Hi Cookie,

I'm sorry to hear about your chest infection. I do hope you get feeling like your old self, soon.

I learned a good lesson today: When I'm feeling depressed, it's good to go outside in the sun and swim. (And it helps to have some caffeine beforehand.)

Hi John!

Uh oh, I don't know what I'm going to do with this tag! I'll try to think of seven people who will follow through. That's the hardest part. I don't even know how I'm going to follow through!

Long time no see. It's great to hear from you.

Thanks for reading my poems and connecting with them :)

All i can say is, even if he cant come back, at least the bird was free.

Soulsunclothed,

I anticipate reading more of them!

Anonymous,

What if the bird was happily confined?

Perhaps it suffered from Stockholm syndrome.

But this is wishful thinking.

Popinjays can't fly away.
