Watching and Waiting

Aflame is this desire to know truth.
Desperate enough to surrender.
Despite the consequences.
Despite the agony.

In this medium,
I can't see your glance,
But your words can
Bring to me illumination.

You are quiet.
Not a word until the right moment.
But you are watching,
And you are waiting.

Wherever you are,
Whoever you are,
I respectfully remain,
Seated at my seat until your unveiling.

It is beautiful and sincere.

Yeah...

Sophia is all she says in her profile...

She's also a poet:

"Treasures lie hidden beneath the throne of God; the key to those treasures is the tongue of poets."

(Shoghi Effendi, The Dawn-Breakers, p. 258)

Sophia,
What are you up to?

Don't flatter God. You don't need to.

Siegfried, to me it sounds more like an acknowledgment of and a submission to a higher power. I think it might be an experience that is necessary to Sophia's journey. My journey is different from yours and anyone else's. Her's is equally unique. It is a brave act she has done. I wouldn't be surprised that some of these stages must be repeated from time to time.

Still, you're right that God doesn't need flattery, no matter what most modern organized religions teach.

Anon,
Just kidding!
You are right.
We all have desires, dreams and something to complain about.
God is the silent ear.

Alex,

Thanks.

I usually write poetry when I'm feeling desperate.

I've heard if we want something bad enough, it will come to us. (This reminds me of the Law of Attraction.)

Siegfried,

What I am up to is best described by Happily_anonymous's comment. In fact, he worded it so well that I doubt I could say it better.

The poem was written based on the need of two things. The first, a spiritual teacher. The second, to find union with God.

In regards to a spiritual teacher, you know the saying that goes, "When the student is ready, the Master appears"? Apparently I'm not ready yet.

So, just as God sits quietly watching and waiting, so too does a spiritual teacher, very possibly. Not that I'm conceited enough to think one would be following along secretly and quietly, waiting until I'm ready.

Happily_anonymous,

Thank you for putting to words what I could not. You continue to show that you are perceptive. Your words were gentle.
