Who Do Voodoo? I Do Voodoo!

If you are in any way afraid of Voodoo dolls you may want to skip this post. I know there are some out there who are, so let me remind us that the only scary demon we have to fear with Voodoo is fear itself. I could go on and on with a spiel about how demons are energetic thoughtforms created by ourselves, and they are some very seriously scary demons like Hatred, Fear, Ignorance, not these ugly creatures like you see in scary movies, although scary movies are allegories for the demons we create.

Before I get too far off topic, I wanted to tell the story about my own personal voodoo doll and the reward I have achieved through its use. I hope I haven't already told this story on this blog - I can at times be absentminded - so if I have, please forgive me.

A few years ago a coworker went to New Orleans and bought me a souvenir gift; it was a Voodoo doll. The instructions say to do this or that for love, money or revenge. One is supposed to pin a piece of paper onto the doll using either the white or black pin, on which is written a specific amount of money, the name of the person you want to fall in love with you, or the name of the person with whom you wish to get revenge. Obviously for the white magic one would use the white pin and for the black magic - revenge - you'd use the black pin. I will say here that I have NEVER touched the black pin, and I would advise any who use Voodoo dolls to also ignore the black pin because of karmic consequences.

When I received the doll, I pinned a small piece of paper onto the doll that had "$10,000" written on it. I used the white pin for this. Later, I laid the doll on a shelf and eventually it was forgotten and got pushed to the back of the shelf, got covered in dust, etc. Last year about this time I received a letter from FedEx informing me that I was the grand prize winner of a $10,000 sweepstakes. At the time I didn't remember the doll, however, earlier this year I was cleaning off a shelf and discovered the doll. When I discovered it and saw the monetary number written on the paper, chills surged through my body because I knew then that the doll had helped focus my intent for a while so that I could bring into my life that $10,000.

I've never read The Secret, but I've heard a small bit about the Law of Attraction and I can tell you the book The Secret is not the first place it's been taught as it is a very old law taught by ancient mystery schools. For me I now am a full believer. In addition, I'm sure that a Voodoo doll can be used as a tool for this law.

The doll in the image is mine. Thanks go out to my husband for being a wonderful hand model. :)

Hello Sophia,

What if your life (including difficulties) was designed specifically to help you to grow spiritually? Then wishing away your difficulties would probably only result in moving difficulties to another area, or worse yet in removing something that was meant to help you.

Hi Kathy,

I have never used the doll for anything else because after I put it away that first time I just forgot about it. Maybe it felt like the Velveteen Rabbit until I discovered it again. :) I am not too sure about using it again for fear of being greedy. I remember the story of the goose that laid golden eggs... it did not bode well when things got too greedy.

It is nice of you to stop by. Thanks for being my friend. :)

Hi Mossy,

I'm not sure how using the voodoo doll could be seen as wishing away my difficulties. I'm confused. Can you explain what you mean?

Good point.

I guess I did not explain it well.

Well, here's your chance! :)

I want to know what your thought was if you can put it to words.

I just think that it is better not to do magic. On the other hand it is wonderful to observe how much magic is already happening in our lives.

What is wrong with magic?

I should say that win I pinned that number to the doll those years ago I didn't know anything about the subtle realm. So there really wasn't as much intent attached to it as there could have been. So imagine what could be done with intention now that I know more! Money is really trivial so I could move on to bigger things like spiritual enlightenment, happiness or peace.

I do not know anything about magic at the moment as I have focused mostly on mysticism, but I do have plans to study magic sometime in the future once I feel I've made enough progress with mysticism. As far as I can tell, magic is an ancient form of psychology, something one can use for personal development or self-help. I'm not afraid of it although I have no interest in using magic with negative intentions.

Hmmm... such terseness! :) I know, I know, it's a lesson for me, right? Because I'm so verbose, the exact opposite of silence.

Sophia,
Your post is a testimony of the power of asking. The vodoo doll is just an object where you focused your energy on. You could have used a picture of you receiving a check and it would have worked as well.
One interesting point is that according to your story you "asked" for $10,000 with dettachment for the immediate result. Because you were not sure that this was going to work, you were able to "ask" without attachment for the immediate result. Probably, if you tried now for asking for one million dollars or spiritual enlightment, it would be more difficult to do it with dettachment for the immediate results...
Regarding the discussion above about Magic, I would add that Magic is the name that human beings use for describing something that they do not know how it works...
All the best

Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

Laughing out loud at V. so true!

someone i once knew wanted money...she got it! her husband took that money and moved her ass to a remote part of the world...she is still there and very unhappy. (had to share that one!)
