Bad Luck?

My stepmother just pointed this out to me.

I'm going to be turning 30 on Friday the 13th. Is this a bad omen? Uh-oh!

Is 30 the first over-the-hill birthday? Will this mean I'm officially an old person?

I wanted to stay a 20-something forever.

I don't like this. Not one bit.

If you think it's bad luck, fate will grant it...

When I was young there was a saying, "Don't trust anyone over 30."

When I grew up, I realized what they were really saying: People over thirty are way serious and could hamper my fun...

i hope you overcome this reluctance to get older. Being 30 is so much better than 20. 40 is so much better than 30...etc at 66 I anticipate things will go on improving till at some point like anything in nature I will deteriorate and die. by which time I will have lived enough not to care. Life! More life! that is the thing. Never mind youth. You will grow out of it and then in your nineties you may experience the best.

I'm afraid of looking old too. Most people have no idea.
I seem to be growing older at a fast rate now. Perhaps next year I will have to dye my hair and to cover my wrinkels. Avoid the sun as much as possible. Sleep a lot. And not take a bath too often.
My young friends keep multiplying. And their getting older too.

I found turning 30 difficult. I guess I felt I was no longer young.

In practice every age has its advantages and disadvantages however. There isn't much one can do about ageing anyway!

Hello Sophia,

I am glad to see that you are back. It is better to be older. Even though us old people find youth beautiful and charming we know that we have acquired something more valuable.

Alex,

I think that 30 is incongruous with my personality. I'm in no way a serious adult yet. When I was a kid, I thought that people in their 30s were old!

I'm sharing my birthday celebration with my dad, since Father's Day is two days after my birthday. We're all going out on Saturday for some pizza and a movie.

Vincent, I hope you're right. You seem to have more courage about old age than I do. I'm very frightened of growing older, and especially afraid of dying.

My previous next door neighbor is like 95 or 96 and he's still going strong. He still cuts his own grass. He was driving his cadillac all the way up until about 94.

Siegfried,

Luckily I have my parents' skin. Both Mom's and Dad's skin are youthful, and they hardly have any wrinkles in their 50s. My skin still looks young and I get carded all the time. When people card me, they're surprised to see I'm almost 30 years old. It makes me feel good.

One thing that might have helped is the fact that I don't rub my face dry, I pat it dry after the shower.

Hi Rob,

I always thought the perfect age was 21, because then you're old enough to drive and old enough to drink. :) I've had daydreams of being 21 forever.

Hi Mossy,

You talkin' 'bout wisdom? :)

Something about being 30 makes me feel like I have to pretend to be mature. *giggles*
